Herdade da Lisboa is located in the wine region of Alentejo - Portugal's largest wine region by size as it covers a third of the country - and more specifically in the sub-region of Vidigueira & the town of Selmes.

The winery was bought by João Cardoso and hios two sons in 2011, but has been a winery since the 18th century.

Convés means ‘deck of a boat’, named for the fact that the famous Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, was given the title ‘Count of Vidigueira’, after discovering the maritime route from Europe to India, and was given the lands of where these very wines were made by the King of Portugal!

Alentejo is a warm climate wine region & is known for their red wines, but thanks to the Vidiguiera valley being protected by mountains on all sides, the evenings are cooler enabling the production of white grapes with acidity, perfect for making sparkling wines!
