Day 1 — Porto Welcome
Arrival, free time, welcome drinks, and group dinner with Turra.
Day 2 — Porto & Countryside
Guided walking tour, ‘Francesinha’ lunch, scenic countryside drive, dinner with Arêgos.
Day 3 — Mountains & Vineyards
Mountain viewpoints, winery lunch with Casa Santa Eulália, free afternoon, evening dinner with Carneiro.
Day 4 — Douro Valley
Private winery visit & long lunch with Casa do Reguengo, Douro River cruise, hosted dinner in the valley with Epordouro.
Day 5 — History & Family Wineries
Guimarães sightseeing, winery lunch at Casa da Tojeira, relaxed afternoon, farewell Basto dinner with Carneiro.
Day 6 — Northern Coast & Celebration

DAY 1
Welcome to Porto
- Arrive in Porto and settle into our hotel in the historic center.
- After time to refresh and explore nearby streets, we’ll meet in the early evening for welcome drinks before heading to our first group dinner with our friends at Turra.
- This is a relaxed evening designed to ease into the trip, shake off jet
lag, and get to know one another over great food and wine.
Overnight: Porto
DAY 2
Porto to the Countryside
- After breakfast, we’ll explore Porto on foot with a guided walk through
its colorful neighborhoods and riverside streets.
- For lunch, we’ll enjoy Porto’s famous Francesinha before leaving the city and heading inland toward the beautiful southern Vinho Verde wine
region of Baião.
- In the afternoon, we’ll stop for drinks and scenic views of the Douro River before being joined for dinner by Álvaro of Encostas de Arêgos.
- We’ll then continue on to our home base for the next several nights in Cabeceiras de Basto — a peaceful rural setting surrounded by mountains and vineyards in the Basto sub-region of Vinho Verde.

DAY 3
Mountains, Vineyards & Long Lunches
- This morning, we head up the magnificent Monte Farinha for sweeping views across Basto, one of the region’s most iconic viewpoints.
- Afterward, we’ll visit Casa Santa Eulália for a relaxed vineyard
visit and long lunch featuring regional food and their delicious wines.
- The afternoon is free to rest, enjoy the countryside, or relax at our
accommodation.
- In the evening, we’ll head out again for dinner with Cristiana &
Alberto Carneiro, sharing stories, bottles, and a true taste of the
region’s hospitality.

DAY 4
The Douro Valley
- Today we venture into the legendary Douro Valley, home to dramatic terraced vineyards and centuries of winemaking history.
- We’ll enjoy a private winery visit and lunch with Casa do Reguengo,
followed by time on the river to experience the landscape from the water. The day finishes with dinner hosted by Epordouro before returning to the countryside for the night.
- This is a full and unforgettable day in one of the world’s most beautiful wine regions.

DAY 5
Historic Towns & Family Wineries
- This morning, we visit Guimarães, often called the birthplace of Portugal, with time to explore its medieval streets and historic sites.
- Lunch will be hosted at the beautiful manor house of Casa da Tojeira,
where we’ll taste wines alongside traditional home-style cooking. The afternoon is free to relax before a final dinner nearby with Jorge Barroso.

DAY 6
Northern Coast & Farewell Dinner
- After checking out, we’ll spend the day exploring some of Northern
Portugal’s most charming towns — Braga, Barcelos, and Viana do Castelo — including vibrant city squares, markets, and coastal viewpoints.
- We’ll enjoy lunch along the way and finish the journey with a farewell
dinner hosted by Phulia, celebrating the friendships and memories made
during the week.
- In the evening, we return to our countryside accommodation for our final
night together.

DAY 7
Return to Porto
- After breakfast, we’ll return to Porto for departures. Transfers will be
arranged to align with recommended flight times.
- Hugs, goodbyes, and plans to meet again over future bottles of
Portuguese wine.

Where We'll Stay
Casa de Piellas, your Countryside Home in Northern Portugal
Casa de Piellas is a beautifully restored 18th-century manor house set in the peaceful countryside of Cabeceiras de Basto, in the heart of Northern Portugal’s Basto wine region. It offers a relaxed, elegant home base for exploring vineyards, historic towns, and mountain landscapes.
The house is surrounded by historic formal gardens, spacious lawns, and a private swimming pool, with plenty of outdoor areas to relax, gather, and enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
Guests will stay in comfortable private bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, offering both privacy and hotel-style comfort within a shared country house setting. Inside, the property features multiple living areas and communal spaces designed for unwinding and socializing after full days of exploring.
Casa de Piellas combines historic character with modern comfort, creating the perfect balance of charm, space, and tranquility for our small group stay.

Yes. Guests are responsible for booking flights to and from Porto, Portugal. We’ll provide recommended arrival and departure times once you’re confirmed.
Moderately active. Expect walking tours, stairs at wineries, and uneven vineyard terrain. You should be comfortable walking for 20–30 minutes at a time.
We can accommodate most dietary needs with advance notice. Please tell us at booking so we can notify restaurants and wineries.
Plenty — but always paired with food, scenery, and conversation. This is about enjoyment, not marathon tastings.
Yes! Obviously, you can find all our producers wines with us in the US, but we strongly encourage you to purchase wines to enjoy for your downtime and continued travels.
Yes. All guests must carry travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical care, and emergency evacuation.
Minor adjustments may occur due to weather or winery availability, but any substitutions will be of equal quality and experience.
