The winery was bought by João Cardoso & his two sons in 2011, but has been a winery since the 18th century.

We met with Winemaker, Ricardo, & Commercial Director, Alexandre, and we were so impressed that they were able to create wines with a beautiful freshness that we did not expect to see in the middle of Alentejo!
Their brand, Convés, means ‘the deck of a boat’, named for the fact that the famous Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, was given the title ‘Count of Vidigueira’, after discovering the maritime route from Europe to India.
During our visit, we were delighted to be served the traditional dish migas, a flavorful blend of bread, garlic, and olive oil, capturing the essence of Portuguese culinary heritage.
